Illusory inspiration

I have so much free time now that my exams are over. I don't know myself and I really didn't know what to do with my time for the first few days. I decided to try and start re-writing my book and I started off with good intentions but I kind of began to realise that I had no idea what I was writing. Anything I wrote was just so dull. I need inspiration! Inspiration is a very infrequent thing for me. Some people have a specific place they go to where inspiration usually strikes. Most people have ways to help them generate inspiration and if they have a mind block they have some brilliant remedies. None of that works for me. When I get a strike of inspiration it could be a few words, a sentence or even a paragraph from any part of the book. One time I'll get something from the last chapter pop into my head and the next it could be something from the middle of the book. The gaps between my inspiration strikes vary. I'll get one and then sometimes I'll wait months for the next one, sometimes just weeks. I'm hoping that if I hold out long enough I may get enough inspiration strikes to get the whole book written. So in about 10 years I reckon I'll have it finished. Hopefully.

Drum roll please!

I have exciting news. The voyage of Awesome begins here my friends. Be prepared for the excitement, people of a nervous disposition do not read any further...

So... I have a stack of half written stories under my bed and I've made an important decision...
*Drum roll*
I'm going to go back to those stories and try to finish them! Yay!

I know, I'm so excited too. I can't wait to get started. But I have a feeling that this all doesn't sound as exciting to some people out there as it does to me... Things always sound better when you say them in your head.

But anyway, I'm so excited because this is finally my chance to get my own ideas down on paper. Fanfiction is fun and I really love it, but I want to be able to create my own characters and stories and places and adventures. So this is gonna be fun. I hope.

I think the stories that are under my bed are all the same stories but just different versions. All I know is there's a stack of paper under my bed that I need to sort out before I can start writing again. And no, I will not share my ideas with you. I'm keeping them secret until I have finished. Obviously I'm not going to start writing until after my exams are over and maybe I'll even wait until after Christmas, but I know when I do start I will have a lot to do.

All I can say now is I'M SO EXCITED and hopefully you'll be buying my book one day...

Categoricaly clueless

When it comes to buying Christmas presents, I am clueless. Utterly clueless. Completely clueless. Uncomprehendingly clueless. Categorically clueless.

I'm pretty clueless.

But when it came to beginning to think of presents for friends and family this year, I was determined to get my head straight. Determined.
And you can guess how that's working out for me...
I just don't get it. I must be the only one. Everyone I know is pretty good at gift giving. Do you never get the feeling that you're running out of ideas? I do. Every year... I feel like everything I pick up is either too bland or I've bought something like it for someone before. It's difficult to find new ideas within your budget and my budget is very tight. Bargain Books is good to by little small, cheap things to go with a bigger present but there's only so much you can buy as a present in Bargain Books, your choices are pretty limited. You can buy books, yes, but that's not much of an exciting present, you need something other than pencils or hand warmers to go with that. Board games, hand warmers, books and pencils. Yeah, that says a whopping Happy Christmas to me, sure.
Well OK, to some people that is a very Happy Christmas, but I always like to go the extra mile with gift giving whenever I can. But this year I'm really stumped. I've given the lot; aftershave sets, handmade cards, t-shirts, mugs, DVDs, books, CDs, perfume, chocolates, candles, jewellery... I'm stumped. Help! What do you do in a situation like this? I'm categorically confuzzled.
